The ECC Comprehensive Educational Curriculum

In Every Child Counts, we believe that teaching special needs students is a journey of unlocking unique potentials and fostering growth. By embracing each student’s strengths, whether it’s creativity, empathy, or resilience, we create environments where they can flourish. Centred around eight core programs, this makes up our Comprehensive Educational Curriculum which is individualised for every learner.

MUSIC

The ECC music program encompasses all our classes starting from our Early Primary students  up to our Sheltered-work Training Program adults) that aims towards the development of musical talent, and also pave way for music oriented careers in the future. We believe the importance of music classes to aid in achieving student development and behavioral goals such as attending skills, listening skills, motor coordination skills and social skills. 

Pedagogical approaches applied in music classes, centres around:

  • Sound before symbol
  • Whole body learning
  • Use of both voices and instrument
  • Integration of listening, performing, improvising and composing

As students explore their musical paths, the program offers different ensembles where they can develop their skills such as:

  • Choir
  • Concert Band
  • Pop / Stage Band
  • Drum Circle

LIFE SKILLS

Education extends far beyond the classroom walls. That’s why we’re committed to equipping our students with essential life skills that prepare them for success in all aspects of life. Through our comprehensive life skills program, students learn practical skills such as financial literacy, time management, communication, and problem-solving. From cooking nutritious meals to navigating social situations, our goal is to empower students with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. With hands-on activities, workshops, and real-world simulations, we ensure that every student graduates with the confidence and competence to tackle whatever challenges come their way. 

ECO

Through hands-on experiences and interactive lessons, our students explore the wonders of the natural world, learning about ecology, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. From planting gardens to recycling initiatives, every activity is designed to foster a sense of responsibility and respect for the planet. With a focus on experiential learning and community engagement, we empower our students to become environmental advocates and caretakers of our shared home.

VOCATIONAL SKILLS

At Every Child Counts, we recognize that every student has unique talents and passions.  Our vocational programs go beyond traditional academics, offering hands-on training and real-world experiences that prepare students for job opportunities in the community. Through personalized guidance and mentorship, we empower students to explore their interests, and develop valuable skills.

FUNCTIONAL ACADEMICS

Our functional academics curriculum is designed to provide practical, real-world skills that are relevant to each student’s unique abilities and goals. From basic literacy and numeracy to daily living skills such as shopping, cooking, and managing personal finances, we ensure that every lesson has practical applications that extend beyond the classroom.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

At Every Child Counts, social-emotional learning isn’t just a program; it’s the heartbeat of our school. We believe that nurturing the whole child means prioritizing their emotional well-being alongside academics. Through tailored SEL initiatives, we empower students with essential life skills like empathy, resilience, and self-awareness.
